USNCVA.ORG Web Server Status


USNCVA.ORG migrated to a new server on 20 February 2004. Testing of services commenced early Saturday morning 21 February 2004.

Service that tags suspected spam by modifying the subject line by adding *****SPAM***** to the beginning of the subject. Thus permitting users to filter for subjects beginning with the tag and pre-separate their messages into probably valid and probably spam categories.
Service used to submit web server generated Email to Webmaster, Listmaster, and Membership Secretary
Service used, by POP account users, to receive mail.
Service used, by POP account users, to send mail.
Service providing web based interface to send and receive mail for POP Account users.
Service used to transfer files to and from the server by the Webmaster and the Listmaster.
Service used to control NID-PPD and NCVA-PPD Access.
Reverse DNS (rDNS) is a method of resolving an IP address into a domain name, just as the domain name system (DNS) resolves domain names into associated IP addresses. One of the applications of reverse DNS is as a spam filter. Here's how it works: Typically, a spammer uses an invalid IP address, one that doesn't match the domain name. A reverse DNS lookup program inputs IP addresses of incoming messages to a DNS database. If no valid name is found to match the IP address, the server blocks that message.

The Webmaster is now accepting request for new accounts. Password Protected Directory (PPD) accounts permit a user to access the NID-PPD and the NCVA-PPD files. Please follow the instruction provided in the FAQ:
